Want to phone or e-mail the Capitol Press Corp members? Thanks to Mike Bay of TVW, here’s a one-pager, including all credentialled media and journalism interns. The resident press corps has dramatically shrunk in recent months, now numbering nine year-rounders. Some bloggers also are covering the session.
For those of you wondering, this old photo of the Press Corps was taken circa 1987, at one of Booth Gardner’s news conferences during his first term as governor. The gentleman in the first chair on the left is Bob McDaniel, who was the UPI guy in Olympia for many years. On the left, behind Bob, is Bob Partlow, then of The Olympian. Also seated on the left you’ll spot the News Tribune’s Peter Callaghan. The two reporters to Peter’s left are the P-I’s Debra Carlton Harrell and Mike Layton.
Further down the table (at the end) are Ed Evans, KIRO-TV’s former bureau chief, and KIRO cameraman Jay Johnson (behind Ed’s left shoulder). Jay now works with Richard Thompson, KIRO’s South Sound bureau chief. In the back, you’ll also spot KOMO-TV’s Keith Eldridge. To Gov. Gardner’s right, a bespectacled Dan Tritle (Evergreen Radio); Larry Ganders (Tri-City Herald); Mark Funk (Everett Herald); and Walter Hatch (Seattle Times) standing behind Mr. Ganders.
