Tea’d off in Olympia

Tea’d off in Olympia

2010 Capitol Tea Party rally 006

Today was the second annual Tea Party rally on the state Capitol steps. KTTH talk show host David Boze and former KVI talk-jock Kirby Wilbur were among those who addressed the crowd, and initiative giant Tim Eyman was among those in attendance. The anti-tax rally falls on the deadline for people to file their federal income taxes.  Many of the estimated 3,000 at the Olympia rally waved signs or U.S. flags and shouted anti-tax slogans. Olympian/News Tribune reporter Brad Shannon posted this blog about the rally.

  1. What politicians and the news media consistently fail to recognize is that these folks are not usually members of an activist group, they are not the expected protester, nor have they escaped adult supervision from Evergreen State College. They are ordinary people demonstrating in a peaceful manner their unhappiness with government and the directions its going despite who has been elected.

Please be aware that this is in the middle of week and how many more would have shown up and what percentage of the actual population do they really represent. I think politicians and civil authorities need to be aware of the growing unhappiness with their failures.
