1889 U.S. flag tops Archives poll

by Brian Zylstra | June 22nd, 2012

No recount here: Online voters have made it clear that their favorite “Archives treasure” for June is the 42-star U.S. flag from 1889, the year Washington was admitted to the union. The flag captured 48 percent of the vote, besting the early 1960s photos of Interstate 5 construction in Seattle (29 percent) and the Wilder & White Capitol Campus design (23 percent).

In the next week or so, we’ll start our “Library jewels” blog series for June, so look for that.
