2) KATHLEEN BENOUN MARKS 35 YEARS OF SERVICE

Washington State Library (WSL) is celebrating Kathleen Benoun’s 35th anniversary of working in the Western State Hospital Branch Library this week. Kathleen is a tireless advocate for libraries and the rights of the mentally ill. She was named WSL Employee of the Year in 2008.

Institutional Library Services Program Manager, Laura Sherbo, describes watching Kathleen interact with her customers as “performance art” which demonstrates how much respect and affection she feels for them.
