Gregoire advisers Brown, Moore get new posts

MartyBrownVictorMooreTwo of Governor Gregoire’s most trusted advisers, her budget and policy director and her legislative director, are moving on – but not leaving Olympia.   The governor says budget chief Victor Moore is departing to become chief operating officer of the Washington State Investment Board. He will be replaced at the Department of Financial Management by Marty Brown, effective the middle of April.

Moore and Brown are charter members of the Gregoire administration now in its sixth year, and have been key advisers on virtually every issue that the governor pursues. Both are uber-connected with the Legislature, as well, with Moore serving as a former staff director for the House Appropriations Committee and Brown serving as counsel and secretary of the Senate.

Brown returns to his old post as budget director and head of the governor’s policy shop. He was budget chief, legislative director and deputy chief of staff for Governor Locke.

Gregoire said in her announcement that Moore has served with “uncommon dedication, keen intelligence and quiet strength,” helping the state weather “a number of rough patches.” She called Brown “one of my most trusted advisers.”
