While many in Washington are looking forward to the state’s first Presidential Primary in eight years, about a quarter of the state’s registered voters have a chance to vote in an earlier election — the April Special Election. Nearly half of Washington’s registered voters are receiving their ballots this week for the April Special Election voting period that ends April 28. The Elections Division reports that mail ballots are being sent out by this Friday to more than 1.7 million voters (44 percent of state’s registered voters) in 19 counties for this election. Nearly 1.6 million Washington voters in 21 counties will receive a ballot this week for the April special election, which ends April 22. Some 35 ballot measures will be considered by voters in these counties. If you’re in one of the 21 counties having an election later this month but you aren’t registered to vote anywhere in Washington, you have until April 15 to register in person if you want to vote in it.
