Legacy Washington profiles Seattle Mayor Wes Uhlman for new exhibit

The political legacy of 1968 bloomed in Seattle the following year when Wes Uhlman, 34, was elected mayor. Uhlman, profiled as part of an exhibit that will open Sept. 13 at the state Capitol, proved to be a politician of the changing times. Top 2 upheld in court: voters win

Washington’s popular Top 2 Primary system has cleared its final legal hurdle. The U.S. Supreme Court announced Monday that it will not hear the challenge by Washington Democrats and Libertarians on the Top 2. This apparently is the final word on litigation that has been under way since voters overwhelmingly approved the primary through an initiative in 2004. Legislature sends PCO elections bill to Governor

Washington’s PCO elections are on the verge of being back in business. A year after a federal court judge ruled state-run PCO elections unconstitutional in the context of the Top 2 Primary, the Legislature has approved a bill requiring PCO elections to be conducted during the state’s Primary Election, which occurs Aug. 7 this year.
