No changes will need to be made to the Initiative 1185 language in the upcoming state Voters’ Pamphlet for this fall’s General Election after a judge Friday morning dismissed a lawsuit brought by I-1185 sponsor Tim Eyman. Eyman tax crackdown measure qualifies for ballot

Initiative activist Tim Eyman has secured a spot on the statewide General Election ballot for Initiative 1185, a plan to re-establish a voter mandate for a two-thirds vote in both houses for any taxes passed in Olympia. I-1185 signature check starts July 16

Our Elections Division has counted the signatures for Tim Eyman’s latest initiative, I-1185.  The tax limiting effort contained 320,003 signatures, well above the 241,153 required to qualify for the statewide ballot.  The total also exceeds the 25 percent buffer over the minimum signatures that elections officials suggest campaigns collect to account for invalid signatures, including duplicates, signatures from people who aren’t registered and signatures that don’t match the signature in the voter registration record.
