Touch-A-Bus Story Time coming to a library branch near you – KXLY

SPOKANE, Wash. – Touch-a-Bus Story Time is returning to Spokane this summer thanks to a partnership between the Spokane County Library District and the Spokane Transit Authority.

For the free event, a local STA driver reads a story and then a city bus is brought to the library for kids and families to ride on.

The library says the story time events help children develop early literacy skills and helps prepare them for preschool and kindergarten.

We usually read ‘Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!’ by Mo Willems; it’s a lot of fun – the kids really enjoy it. And then everybody gets on the bus and goes for a ride, and I think that’s probably the favorite part for all of the kids,” said Gwendolyn Haley, library services manager.

“A lot of them have never ridden a bus before; a lot of families really like to have the opportunity to try the bus together, they maybe have not ridden the public bus before.”
