Book Sales:

Friends of the Libraries welcome donations of gently used books at any of Pierce County Library’s 17 branches.  Most Friends groups also welcome used CDs and DVDs.  The groups sell these items at book sales and the proceeds go towards paying for programs, purchasing furnishings and meeting other library needs.  (Bonney Lake Sumner Courier-Herald [Kent], 4.29.09)

The Friends of the Westport Library (Timberland Regional Library) have an ongoing book sale during open hours at the library.  The funds raised by the Friends are used to support the programming at the Westport Library.  (South Beach Bulletin [Westport], 4.30. 09)

Economy/Hard Times:

The Timberland Regional Library (TRL) board endorsed a new schedule of library hours that began June 1.  The board also requested administrators develop policies on other issues, such as charging for computer printouts and collecting fines for overdue library materials.  (Chinook Observer [Long Beach], 4.29.09)

Yelm Library (Timberland Regional Library) hours have been cut.  Library hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.  (Photo)  (Nisqually Valley News [Yelm], 5.1.09).
