Need a local records grant?

The Washington State Archives is now taking applications for its 2011-13 Local Records Grant Program. The application materials are available online through the Secretary of State’s website.

The competitive grant program is available only to local government agencies in Washington. The program focuses on getting archival records digitized and made available through the Digital Archives. Agencies are also encouraged to transfer their records to the Archives for permanent preservation.

The budget for this two-year grant cycle is $200,000, with a maximum of $10,000 being awarded to a single recipient. There is also funding available for the purchase of archives storage boxes to aid in the protection of records. These archival records will be considered: minutes, ordinances and resolutions.

Applications must be completed and postmarked by May 20. Local government agencies are encouraged to work with their local branch archivists in developing their grant applications.
