Farewell, Snoqualmie Pass snowshed

After 64 years, the I-90 snowshed next to Keechelus Lake has been removed by a road crew this week. Construction starts this summer on two avalanche bridges that will replace the outdated snowshed. From the Archives: Snoqualmie Summit ski jumping

In the spirit of the Sochi Games and Washingtonians’ love for winter sports, the State Archives staff found this classic 1937 photo of a ski jumper in midflight during a competition at Snoqualmie Summit as hundreds watch. The photo comes from the Archives’ Washington State Department of Transportation collection.
