‘Tis the season!

The holiday season is officially here and the smell of evergreen fills the Legislative Building with the arrival of this year’s Holiday Kids’ Tree! The tree, delivered November 28th, comes from Rainier, WA and was donated by Weyerhaeuser’s Vail Tree Farm. Holiday Tree is up, lighting event Friday

For those of you looking forward to seeing the state Holiday Tree in the Legislative Building rotunda, your wait is over.  The big tree is up. Several Department of Enterprise Services workers spent Monday morning putting up the 25-foot Noble fir, donated by Rayonier Inc. The tree will be fully decorated late this week. The Legislative Building, that is. A group of General Administration workers brought in the 22-foot noble fir Monday morning and erected it in the Capitol Rotunda during the noon hour. According to a GA official, the tree was donated by Tom and Dian Rolfs of Olympia, who live near Marvin Road. The fir was originally planted on their deck in 1995 as a living Christmas tree. … it took 24 people to carry the 38 ft-tall holiday tree into the Capitol this morning?  That’s right!  The noble fir was cut down yesterday in Toutle Ridge near Mt. St. Helens on Department of Natural Resources property.  The tree was brought on a large flat bed semi-truck and carried in by hand.  Look closely, you can see 2 x 4’s are placed under the tree as handles for workers to slowly make their way into the building.  It…
