Barbara Madsen will lead Supreme Court

Barbara Madsen, a highly regarded senior member of the Washington Supreme Court, has been chosen by her peers as Chief Justice, succeeding Gerry Alexander in January. Madsen, the third woman ever elected to the state’s highest court, has been a justice for 16 years. SecState scores strong Supreme Court support

The state Supreme Court has just handed down a 6-3 opinion that spells out in strong, clear terms that the Secretary of State properly used its discretion in allowing a public vote last fall on an initiative dealing with training of home-based careworkers.
