2) EDUCATION IN THE NEXT 50

What kind of future do we envision for our children 50 years from now? What are the skills today’s children need in order to become the architects of a better world tomorrow? How are new advances in areas such as technology and brain research opening up exciting new pathways for teaching and learning? How will we make innovations in education meaningful and accessible to all children in the next 50 years? How will the investments we made in educating very young children today profoundly affect our community – for better or for worse – in the future?

Come to Education in the Next 50, where several national leaders, whose work has shaped new ideas in education, will share their thoughts on the future of education. Among the featured speakers is Bette Hyde, Ph.D. – Director of Washington State Department of Early Learning.

Learn more about ARSL at www.arsl.info.

Three great pre-conference sessions are being offered this year:

  • Community Impact Planning! – Discover ideas on how libraries can create the future by crafting, monitoring, and constantly updating exciting, relevant plans in this hands-on session;

  • What do I do next? – Find out how to identify current trends and issues affecting local library services and apply what you learn in the real world.

The keynote speaker at the General Session will be Susan Hildreth, Director of the Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS).
