In this article written by Kim Wyman, Secretary of State, she comments that during the last legislative session, the Legislature acknowledged the importance of the State Library, and approved an ongoing, more stable funding source. New horizons for Library of Congress
Americans are about to get a new Librarian of Congress – the first in nearly 30 years and the first since the invention of the Internet. President Reagan appointed the current, retiring Librarian of Congress, James Billington, in 1987. Billington has been only the 13th person to serve as the Librarian of Congress since the first appointment under Thomas Jefferson in 1802. Library expansion underway
After several years of hopes and planning, the Kettle Falls Public Library is expanding. Construction is expected to be complete at the end of the year. Until then, the Kettle Falls Library has been relocated to the Kettle Falls Information Center at 425 West 3rd Avenue. (Statesman-Examiner, Colville, 7/22/15)
