Visiting Washington, D.C., is usually pretty special in itself. But on Friday, it was even more so for Danielle Miller, Jan Walsh and Sue Ammeter.

Miller is program manager for the Washington Talking Book & Braille Library in Seattle. Walsh is Washington State Librarian and Miller’s boss. And Ammeter is chair of WTBBL’s Patron Advisory Council.

They were in our nation’s capital to attend a luncheon at the Library of Congress during which Miller received, on WTBBL’s behalf, the 2009 national Network Library of the Year award from the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped Network, which is part of the Library of Congress.

In the photo above, NLS Director Kurt Cylke presents the award to Danielle as Jan and Sue (far right) stand by. As Jan noted afterward, it’s a very exciting and deserving honor for Danielle and WTBBL’s staff and volunteers.
