We are very happy to announce that Find-It! Washington, find-it.wa.gov/, the Washington State government information search tool provided by the Washington State Library division of the Office of the Secretary of State, will be able to continue despite the budget issues we are facing. An inexpensive solution was found to replace the current software. Please consider linking to Find-It! on your websites for quick access to current Washington State Government information.

3)  BOOKSTORE-STYLE LIBRARY FEATURED ON FIRST TUESDAYS MAY 5

Please join us on May 5 at 9:00 a.m. as David Menard from Camano Island Library Pilot Project shares his experience in adopting a bookstore model for this unique pilot library. Camano is a three year pilot project for Sno-Isle Libraries to test community interest in local library service. Learn tips and tricks for marketing your library collection to show off your collection, both print and media.

4)  NATIONAL CONNECTING TO COLLECTIONS FORUM IN BUFFALO IN JUNE

“Stewardship of America’s Legacy: Answering the Call to Action” is the title of the final national forum of the Connecting to Collections series to be hosted by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) in Buffalo, NY, on June 16 & 17, 2009. 5)  GRANT SOURCES FOUND VIA GRANTSTATION

The CHS Foundation, www.chsfoundation.org/ , is committed to investing in the future of rural America, agriculture, and cooperative business through education and leadership development. The Foundation supports national efforts related to its mission as well as programs within the CHS trade territory for regional, multi-state, or statewide projects. The Foundation’s funding focuses on the following program areas: Cooperative Education, Rural Youth and Leadership Development, Farm and Agricultural Safety, Returning Value to Rural Communities, and University Partnerships. All applications are accepted on an ongoing basis, with the exception of Cooperative Education applications, which are due September 30, annually. Dollar General’s Youth Literacy Grants provide funding to schools and local nonprofit organizations to help with the implementation or expansion of literacy programs for new readers, below grade level readers and readers with learning disabilities. Applications for grants up to $3,000 are due by May 22, 2009. Organizations applying must be within 20 miles of a Dollar General store.
