If you want to learn more about internationally renowned entertainment icon Bing Crosby and his family, if you want to learn more about your own family’s history, or you just want a good excuse to spend a day in Spokane, Saturday is for you.

“Road to Spokane: Bing Crosby’s Family History” is a free event taking place at Gonzaga University’s Wolff Auditorium from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Doors open at 8 a.m. The auditorium is in Jepson Center on the Gonzaga campus, 502 E. Boone Ave. To learn more about the event’s program, go here .

If you don’t want to order the box lunch, there are places to eat nearby.

Known for the holiday classic “White Christmas” and other songs, Crosby was one of the best-selling recording artists of all time, with over half a billion records in circulation. In the late 1940s, polls indicated that he was the “most admired man alive.”

The program is sponsored by Gonzaga University and the Washington State Heritage Center, part of the Office of Secretary of State.

Gonzaga University, Crosby family members, local heritage organizations and volunteer genealogists are teaming up with staff from the Washington State Library, Washington State Archives and Digital Archives in conducting the event.
