The Washington Talking Book & Braille Library hosted its seventh annual Ten-Squared event last weekend, celebrating its patrons who are 100 years or older.  WTBBL currently has 50 patrons who have reached this milestone.

Four centenarians and their guests attended the event, along with staff from Washington State Library, WTBBL and the Office of Secretary of State. The photo features in the front row, from left: Faith Callahan (age 106), Edna Kemp (101), new inductee Lydia Simonson (100) and new inductee Kathryn Hess (100). In the back row are Acting State Librarian Rand Simmons (left) and WTBBL Program Manager Danielle Miller.  In all, 30 people enjoyed a high tea and a talk by guest speaker Sneha Mathan, who narrates talking books at WTBBL.

All food and flowers were donated by local businesses and generous individuals.

The National Library Service for the Blind & Physically Handicapped-Library of Congress Ten-Squared Talking Book Club was created to recognize the accomplishments of centenarian patrons and promote the value of lifelong reading.
