In recent years, Washington State Library staffers have earned national recognition for their work. The latest is Jennifer Fenton, who has been elected as Vice-President/President-Elect of the American Library Association’s Learn Roundtable.

The group promotes continuing education and staff development for all library personnel at the local and national levels.

“We are so proud of the recognition the library training community has placed in Jennifer through election to this position,” said State Librarian Rand Simmons. “Jennifer reflects rising stars in the library profession who are providing leadership and making a difference in libraries and the communities they serve. “

Fenton is the Continuing Education/Training Coordinator at the State Library, facilitating in-person and online training around the state. She also is a project manager, currently implementing projects that include Digital Literacy, Transforming Life After 50 (library services for mid-life adults) and Turning the Page 2.0 (advocacy for libraries.). Fenton serves on various Washington Library Association committees. She has a background working in youth services, collection development, and library management and administration.

Before coming to the State Library in the Office of Secretary of State in 2008, Fenton worked for the King County Library System, Ellensburg Public Library and Sno-Isle Libraries.
