Can’t mask this: CFD ball a big hit

The second annual Masquerade Ball at the Capitol last Saturday evening was a huge success.
The Office of Secretary of State, the Combined Fund Drive and the Department of Archeology and Historical Preservation co-hosted the event, with Secretary of State Kim Wyman and State Historic Preservation Officer Allyson Brooks welcoming guests.
Around 600 made their way up the grand staircase to the Capitol rotunda where the night kicked off with a belly dancer and drum line performance. Several other dance performances followed as people continued to make their rounds from floor to floor, checking out the various forms of entertainment.
The extensive hors d’oeuvre display kept people well fed while they mingled, enjoyed drinks and watched couples dance to music being played throughout the building. The casino night entertained many with the selection of poker, blackjack, roulette and more. Just outside of the casino night, charities lined the hallway with all sorts of information and giveaways with the spirit of donating through the Combined Fund Drive in mind.
Professional photographs were taken in the Reception Room and psychics were reading tarot cards in The Dome Café.
The CFD collected more than $6,000 from the event. Many thanks to all attendees, volunteers and performers. We doubled our guest list from last year and hope to do the same for next year!

Thank you so much for inviting me and Janice Williams to share about the Grave Concerns Association, the charity which is giving names to persons buried in the Western State Hospital Historic Cemetery in Fort Steilacoom Park. We enjoyed meeting other charities who are part of the Combined Fund Drive, what diversity and such excellent causes. Janice Williams and I had just completed a successful silent auction at Western State, however we could not resist putting winning bids on some great silent auction items. It surely was a night to remember. Again thank you for all the help to all the charities.
