2) BRINGING UP BABY – COMMUNITY BABY SHOWERS
Community baby showers offer the opportunity to provide new and expecting parents with important information while introducing them to library services for their entire family. At the next First Tuesdays on November 5, Sarah Johnson and Charity Cree, from Mid-Columbia Libraries, will share their experience and expertise on where to find community resources, how to invite attendees, and what types of activities make community baby showers a success.
Designed as a continuing education opportunity for staff of libraries in Washington State, this free web presentation, which will take place on November 5, 2013, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. PST, lets attendees share their skills and successes and learn about new topics. Sessions are recorded so that others may listen at their own convenience. For more information about First Tuesdays, visit sos.wa.gov/q/tuesdays. 4) OCLC EXTENDS ILL TRANSITION DEADLINE
OCLC recently announced a new transition schedule for its ILL platform migration. In response to requests from many members of the OCLC resource sharing community, OCLC will extend access to WorldCat Resource Sharing (WCRS) through May 19, 2014. The new transition schedule provides additional time for ILL staffs to fully learn the new WorldShare ILL service while retaining access to WCRS.
OCLC has also announced new features in OCLC WorldShare® Interlibrary Loan, including printing and workflow options that are completely new to WorldShare ILL.
For more information on these changes and other enhancements, visit sos.wa.gov/q/WayfinderNews and look for the OCLC WorldCat ILL News Bulletin link.

5) OUTREACH ACTIVITIES FOR COLLECTIONS CARE
You know best the unique stories your collections have to tell and you work hard to preserve those collections for future generations. But how do you take collections care activities from “behind the scenes” to front and center, engaging and educating the public? Register now for Connecting to Collections’ free four-part course, Outreach Activities for Collections Care, where you will learn how to advocate for collections care, showcase the important work that goes largely unseen, and get the message out by working with the media (traditional and social) to reach new audiences.
For additional information and to register, go to sos.wa.gov/q/C2COutreach. Registration will close on Monday, October 28, 2013, one week before the start of the course.
