This Nov. 22 marks the 50^th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. As the world reflects on the late president’s life and legacy, the Washington State Archives is presenting photos of the president during his visits to our Washington in the early 1960s.

The two featured photos, from the General Subjects Photograph Collection, 1845-2005, are from a trip that then-U.S. Sen. Kennedy made to Seattle shortly before the 1960 election and his inauguration as the 35^th president of the United States. He is accompanied in the photographs by Washington Sen. Henry “Scoop” Jackson and Washington Gov. Albert Rosellini.
