If you’re a history buff, a fan of our office’s incredibly cool and interesting exhibits, or just need a break from watching the entire Super Bowl preview show before the Seahawks battle the Broncos Sunday afternoon, then check out C-SPAN 3 (Ch. 150).

The channel’s American History TV show is featuring a block of stories on Olympia during its telecast Sunday at 2 p.m. PST. Among the features is the Grand Coulee to Grunge exhibit in our office’s front lobby in the Capitol. The segment will include Secretary of State Kim Wyman taking a C-SPAN 3 crew through the exhibit, which highlights the companies and innovation from Washington that changed the world. Sunday’s show also features a tour of the Legislative Building, a tour of Taylor Shellfish Co., and a visit to the Bigelow House, one of the oldest homes in Olympia.

And our State Library will be featured on C-SPAN 2’s Book TV show this weekend that includes a block on Olympia literary culture and history. The State Library segment focuses on its Territorial Collection, which is maintained at the State Library’s Central Branch in Tumwater. This weekend’s Book TV show will air on C-SPAN 2 (Ch. 25) on Saturday at 9 a.m. and again on Sunday at 6:45 a.m.

If you can’t wait until this weekend to see either show, you can check out C-SPAN’s special “Olympia” city webpage here. The website will be live late Friday afternoon.

Our State Library’s blog, Between The Lines, has more on the two shows airing this weekend.
