2) WEBJUNCTION IS NEW AGAIN

WebJunction is new once again! More information will be coming soon as WSL finalizes the purchase agreement for the Skillsoft courses. For now, we invite you to sign up for a new account (all old accounts are invalid) and check out the free courses offered.

Here’s a brief tutorial on the changes: http://www.screencast.com/t/uBFuXP89zfI

We no longer have a WebJunction Washington webpage, so go to: http://webjunction.org/ to get started with the re-vamped WebJunction.

For more information, please contact Jennifer Fenton, CE/Training Coordinator at [email protected] or 360.570.5571.

3) PUBLIC LIBRARY POLICIES PAGE HAS MOVED

The Washington State Library’s Public Library Policies page has moved. Formerly available on the WebJunction site, Public Library Policies page has permanently moved to: http://www.sos.wa.gov/library/libraries/libDev/policies.aspx

Need an example of a Collection Development or Social Media policy? This is the place to go. As of the latest update, there are over 1,450 policy links listed, everything from ADA compliance to Volunteers. If you have any questions, please contact Evelyn Lindberg at [email protected].

4) BRAILLE TRANSCRIPTION CLASS

The Washington Talking Book and Braille Library (WTBBL) will launch a new Braille transcription class in September 2014. If you are a perfectionist and love to read, and want to help others read, you could learn to transcribe books into braille!

WTBBL offers a free course in braille transcription in 28 lessons, on Wednesday evenings from September 2014 to May 2015. This is an eight-month class with weekly homework (PC-based software provided). Classes meet at WTBBL, 2021 9th Avenue (at Lenora) in Seattle. Free parking is available during class. The first session on September 17 begins at 6:00 p.m. All remaining classes are held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

For more information contact David Junius, WTBBL Volunteer Services Manager at [email protected], or register at sos.wa.gov/q/braille.
