Jan. 12 online reg deadline for February Special Election

To have a voice in your local election next month, you must be a registered voter. To register or update your address in time for the February Special Election, go to MyVote or mail a completed voter registration form by Jan. 12.

If you miss the deadline, first-time Washington voter registrations will be accepted in person at your county elections department through Feb. 2.

Of Washington’s 39 counties, 34 are participating in the February Special Election. The counties not running an election are Asotin, Columbia, Franklin, Island and San Juan. A total of 103 district measures are on the ballot throughout the state — 79 school, 11 fire, eight city, four park and one hospital. Counties will mail ballots to residences no later than Jan. 23, and Accessible Voting Units will be available at voting centers on that day. Counties must mail ballots for military and overseas voters no later than Jan. 11.

To be eligible to register to vote in Washington, you must be:

–A citizen of the United States.

–A legal resident of Washington.

–At least 18 years old by Election Day

–Not disqualified from voting due to a court order.

–Not under Department of Corrections supervision for a Washington felony conviction.
