Ephrata kids get ‘super’ creative with art
Author and illustrator Erik Brooks helped kids at the Ephrata Public Library create a new superhero – Freddy the Hypnosnail. Brooks spent the afternoon explaining the different art style he uses for children’s books and comics, as part of the North Central Regional Library’s summer reading program. He talked about how comics use cleaner lines and fewer – but more easily recognizable – details to help tell a story in a smaller space. He also showed the kids how to get creative with their art, turning anything into new characters. One patron showed how she turned the letter 5 into a lion’s face. (Grant County Journal, Ephrata, 7/9/15)
