Supporters can GiveBIG to WTBBL!

Supporters of the Washington Talking Book & Braille Library have a chance to put their money where their hearts are by donating to WTBBL during GiveBIG, a one-day online charitable giving event that runs Tuesday from midnight to midnight. Last year’s GiveBIG campaign, organized by The Seattle Foundation, raised $11.1 million from 30,000 donors. “This is WTBBL’s third year participating in GiveBig and we are thankful for support from donors and The Seattle Foundation,” said Secretary of State Kim Wyman….

House offers budget bookend: $1.3b in new revenue

The budget battle is about to get  hotter. Majority House Democrats on Wednesday unveiled a $34.5 billion budget plan for the next two years, relying on $1.3 billion in new revenue as a down-payment on the state Supreme Court’s order to boost aid to public schools. WA Senate coalition unveils $33.3b no-tax budget

The Washington Senate’s GOP-led majority coalition, backed by a handful of Democrats, rolled out a $33.3 billion, two-year state budget proposal Wednesday that holds the line on taxes, plows $1 billion in new money into education, cuts college tuition, and expands Medicaid coverage. Our award-winning Washington Talking Book & Braille Library has received yet another honor. On Tuesday night at Seattle City Hall, Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn presented WTBBL with the Mayor’s Award for the library’s work empowering individuals with disabilities. The event was organized by the Seattle Human Services Coalition. 100 reasons to celebrate this event

This might be a very exclusive group, but nobody complains about its criteria to join or when its members gather. In fact, it’s cause for a big celebration when they do. The Washington Talking Book & Braille Library last weekend hosted its annual Ten-Squared event celebrating its patrons who are 100 years or older.
