Archives tourney: St. Helens docs top 1874 Seattle pix

It’s on to the semis of the Archives Treasures tourney for the 1980 Mount St. Helens eruption documents. The St. Helens docs eliminated the 1874 photos of Seattle 54 percent to 46 percent in the second quarterfinal of the tourney, aka November Nuttiness. Our third quarterfinal matchup is between the Tenino Oregon Trail marker and the documents of Washington Territory’s first prison. The online poll for that one begins this afternoon, so be watching.

Our second quarterfinal in the Archives Treasures tourney, aka November Nuttiness, features two contestants that had strong first-round wins: the 1980 Mount St. Helens eruption documents against the 1874 Seattle photos. 1874 Seattle photos take Game 4 of Archives tourney

If the first round is any indication, the State Archives’ 1874 photos of Seattle are a force to be reckoned with as they cruised to victory in Game 4 of our Archives Treasures tournament, taking 65 percent of the votes. Our 1975 Vietnamese refugee photos received 35 percent.  Game 5 of the November Nuttiness tourney starts this afternoon, pairing our Tenino Oregon Trail marker photos and the Greenwood Ark.
