Hanford turns 70
It was on March 22, 1943, that construction began at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation. The site was used to produce plutonium for the atomic bomb that brought an end to World War II. In recognition of this historic anniversary, the state’s Digital Archives retrieved two photos of Hanford taken around 1975.
