Yet another loss for the Capitol Press Corps

rich-roesler-004Spokesman-Review reporter Rich Roesler just announced on his blog that he’s leaving the newspaper biz to take a public-affairs job with the state insurance commissioner’s office.

Rich is a well-regarded and much-respected scribe who often has appeared on TVW. He will be missed by the S-R’s readers in the Spokane area, as well as many people here in Olympia.

It’s another loss for the Capitol Press Corps, which has seen its numbers steadily dwindle in recent years. Last week, The Olympian’s Adam Wilson let it be known he’s leaving journalism to become Governor Gregoire’s speechwriter later this month. OSOS Communications Director David Ammons, who left the Associated Press Olympia bureau last year, blogged about Adam’s departure last week.

  1. The state insurance commissioner’s office stole away a great reporter!

It will be interesting to see where this tidal wave in the press biz takes us. It isn’t just the newspapers… radio and TV too.
