It’s down to the wire!
Today is the last day for anyone wanting to file for an elected office in Washington. As of 10:30 a.m. this morning, 179 people have either filed online or over the counter in the Secretary of State’s Office which doesn’t include filings done in the county auditor’s offices.
It’s worth mentioning that one candidate submitted petitions in lieu of paying the filing fee. A candidate filing this way needs one signiture for every dollar it costs to file for a particular office. For example, if a candidate wanted to file for State Representative, at least 421 valid signatures would be required since the cost of filing is $421.06.
