For years, the Washington Talking Book & Braille Library has been nationally renowned for offering outstanding service and programs for people of all ages who have trouble reading standard print.

It also knows how to throw a party for its oldest patrons.

WTBBL hosted its 10th annual Ten-Squared Talking Book Club High Tea last Saturday to celebrate its members who are at least age 100. WTBBL Manager Danielle Miller emceed the event, and she and State Librarian Rand Simmons inducted the newest members into this exclusive and remarkable club. Urban fantasy author Kat Richardson was guest speaker.

Three club members were able to attend: Emma Harman, 102, Seattle; Vivian Knutson, a new inductee at 100, Poulsbo; and Isidore Starr, 103, Seattle.

The club was created to recognize centenarian patrons and promote the value of lifelong reading.
