‘Tis the season!
The holiday season is officially here and the smell of evergreen fills the Legislative Building with the arrival of this year’s Holiday Kids’ Tree!
The tree, delivered November 28th, comes from Rainier, WA and was donated by Weyerhaeuser’s Vail Tree Farm. The Noble fir stands at 30-feet tall and will be adorned with over 7,000 LED lights and stuffed animals for this year’s theme of “Friends of the Forest”. The “Friends of the Forest” theme features animals native to the State of Washington and highlights the national parks.
From bringing in the tree to hoisting it up, getting the tree up and ready is a day long production. Since not everyone has the time to watch a day long tree installation we have a wonderful time-lapse video showing a quick glimpse of the process.
A public tree lighting will be held on December 1st at 6pm as a part of the Association of Washington Business’ 29th annual Holiday Kids’ Tree Project. Secretary Wyman will light the tree with the help of Washington National Guard Company Commander and 1st Lieutenant Shawnta M. DiFalco and her family.
