The Washington Territorial Court Case Files collection at the Washington State Archives Eastern Regional Branch recently delivered such a surprise. College Civics tour: Day 3

Secretary Wyman hit the road Monday to continue her spring College Civics tour. Here she is pictured chatting with a Central Washington University student on the Ellensburg campus.  The day began with a visit to Wenatchee Valley College at Omak before stopping at CWU. Wyman then headed east for visits to Spokane Falls Community College and Eastern Washington University. The tour continues Tuesday with visits to Whatcom Community College, Western Washington University, Skagit Valley College and Pacific Lutheran University.

Well, the Secretary brought his walking shoes and shorts to Cheney Thursday. During his visit to the state Digital Archives facility at Eastern Washington University, Reed walked around the campus with many members of the Digital Archives and Eastern Regional Archives staffs. Sam’s college civics tour: Day 4

During his visit Thursday morning to Spokane Community College, Secretary Reed spoke during the “Get Lit” program at the college. He discussed leadership and his own experiences in leadership positions. About 200 students attended. Later in the day, Secretary Reed visited Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Washington State University’s Tri-Cities campus and finally WSU’s main campus in Pullman, where the Secretary attended school.

Last week Sam visited the campus of Eastern Washington University in Cheney to congratulate the Eagles on becoming NCAA Division I football champions.  The Eagles won their championship in Frisco, Texas, on January 7, defeating Delaware in a 20-19, come-from-behind thriller.

Eastern Receives Big Read Grant Award

Eastern Washington University was recently awarded $17,025 to support “The Big Read,” a national program that brings communities together to read and discuss books. EWU was the only Washington organization to receive a Big Read grant in this, the fifth year of the program. Eastern selected The Things They Carried, by Tim O’Brien, for its Big Read program.
