Seattle architectural photographer, Otto Greule, will talk about his photographs of ten surviving structures built by J.S. White in 19th Century Snohomish that are on exhibit at the Snohomish Library during October. (Snohomish County Tribune, Snohomish, 10/15/14)

State poet laureate visits Waterville Library
Waterville residents had a rare opportunity to attend a poetry reading at the town library Oct. 22. The guest poet was Elizabeth Austen, who began a two-year term as Washington state poet laureate Feb. 1. Austen, with the sponsorship of Humanities Washington and the Washington State Arts Commission, has made a commitment to visit and share poetry in all of Washington’s 39 counties at least once during her term. Ferndale looking at uses for Pioneer Pavilion
Pioneer Pavilion, a former roller rink that was the temporary home of the Ferndale Public Library, likely will be turned into a community center now that the library is moving into its new, permanent home on Main Street. The City Council will discuss future uses for the 11,955-square-foot-building at a special meeting Monday, Oct. 27, at the pavilion. (The Bellingham Herald, Bellingham, 10/26/14)

Libraries offer new technologies, old favorites
At the Camas and Washougal public libraries, books are just the beginning. Patrons can find facts, fiction and fun in books, magazines, recordings and the Internet. While the local libraries are places to access information and check out books, they offer much more. It’s all the same game, and kids in the Lynden library’s Minecraft Club play it every week. Ghoulish!
Chelan library overrun by zombies, fiends of all kind – peace is restored to community by 8 p.m. Last Saturday’s annual library Halloween carnival is a smashing pumpkin success.
