Uniontown Library aims for new space. The Uniontown Library may be three times as big by this time next year if plans by Whitman County Library staff and volunteers come to fruition. The Uniontown branch is now housed in a 10 x 14 foot room at city hall. A new proposal would move the library into a current fire department garage next door. The Mount Vernon City Library held a community meeting Sept 25 to show the results of a survey conducted this summer to determine what residents want in a new library. A new city library should be bigger and offer more programs for children, according to most people who took part in a survey and focus groups looking at a potential plan for a new library. New library computer system.
Erin Krake, Roslyn librarian, asked the Roslyn City Council last week to authorize the mayor to review a contract that would link Roslyn and other Kittitas County Libraries into one computer system. The library’s integrated computer system is no longer meeting the library’s or patrons’ needs. Krake said, “Many components don’t work, searching is difficult, it can’t print labels for new books or send out overdue notices.” (Daily Record, Ellensburg, 10/01/14).

The Roslyn Public Library will host another Art in Our Library program titled: Recycled Art. The exhibit will be open from Oct 20 to December 15 2014. “We have been featuring art programs, just after moving into our new location a few years ago,” states Roslyn Librarian, Erin Krake.
