2) IT VACANCY ON LIBRARY COUNCIL OF WASHINGTON
Here’s an opportunity to work with your peers in the Washington library community; advise Washington State Library on how to use federal LSTA funds; and share your thoughts on how information technology can be advanced and better utilized in various types of libraries.
- The Library Council of Washington is looking to fill one Information Technology position which will be open on January 1, 2016.

3) LEADING FROM ANY POSITION: CREATING LEARNING LIBRARIES IN 5 EASY LESSONS
There are creative, yet pragmatic, approaches that have been proven effective in helping libraries embrace innovation. Becky Schreiber and John Shannon, Schreiber Shannon Associates, have been working with libraries nationally and internationally to implement these processes.
In this experiential workshop, participants will:
- Explore the concepts of Leading From Any Position to take initiative and garner influence regardless of organizational authority
- Examine practical applications of Senge’s five disciplines
- Apply the disciplines to each participant’s unique situation
- Plan strategies for using the concepts to create a collaborative culture
- Experience the fun of creating together by treating ambiguity as an opportunity for group innovation

4) PNC ANNUAL MEETING
Registration is now open for the Pacific Northwest Chapter of the Medical Library Association Annual Meeting “Taking Off in the Jet City: Librarians Reach for the Stars” at the Motif Hotel in downtown Seattle.
The meeting begins with a Welcome Reception and Poster Session the evening of Sunday, October 18 and continues through Tuesday, October 20 with a great line-up of invited speakers, paper presentations, and opportunities for networking. Meeting attendees will also enjoy a Monday evening reception featuring local bee expert Bob Redmond, founder of The Common Acre. Five outstanding continuing education classes are offered before the meeting on October 17 and 18.
Register by Friday, September 11 for PNC member “early bird” prices. Now is the time to renew memberships or join PNC to take advantage of member prices. The final registration deadline is Wednesday, October 7; there is no on-site registration.
