1) SDL RFP RELEASED

The Washington State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State, announces the release of a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the Statewide Database Licensing (SDL) project. Proposals are solicited from firms interested in providing library research database products to nonprofit libraries in Washington State. The RFP solicits proposals for products in three categories: 1) general periodicals covering a wide variety of subject areas with content that will be of interest to all types of nonprofit libraries and their patrons; 2) a full-text newspaper database with as many Washington papers as possible, including some national papers; and 3) products designed for children and students (K-6 and/or K-12) that include a search interface designed for the younger researcher, and with database content appropriate for elementary reading levels.

The RFP is available on the OSOS web site: www.sos.wa.gov/office/procurements.aspx and via WEBS www.ga.wa.gov/Business. The due date for proposals is March 7, 2011. For more information, visit the SDL web site: www.sos.wa.gov/quicklinks/SDL or contact Will Stuivenga at [email protected] or 360.704.5217.

2) WASHINGTON NEWSPAPERS ON MICROFILM

  • South Whidbey Record; January 2, 2008 – December 30, 2009 (7 reels).

These reels are available to be viewed here at the Washington State Library or borrowed via Interlibrary Loan. To purchase a duplicate reel, please contact Leslie Boyter at [email protected].
