More information is available at www.sos.wa.gov/quicklinks/vacancy. If you have questions, please feel free to contact Jeff Martin, at 360-704-5248, [email protected], or Anne Yarbrough at 360-704-5246, [email protected].

2) HOTEL ON THE CORNER OF BITTER AND SWEET

Could your library use gently used copies of Jamie Ford’s Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, a best-selling novel set in Seattle just before the attack on Pearl Harbor? The Washington State Library will be happy to send them to any Washington library. The copies are all trade paperbacks that have been property stamped and are left over from a community read. There are 329 copies available. Please contact Carolyn Petersen at [email protected] or toll-free at 1-866-538-4996 if you are interested.

3) FREE LEGAL RESEARCH WEBINAR

Legal reference questions can be challenging to answer. Legal Research for Information Professionals will help public librarians learn practical skills for approaching these types of questions.

The webinar will enable participants to:

  • Translate keywords from reference questions into legal search terms for finding resources;
  • Describe legal resources available through Washington web sites, such as the Public Law Library of King County (formerly the King County Law Library), WashingtonLawHelp, and others;
  • Refer legal questions, as appropriate, to a law library.

Presented by Kim Ositis from the Public Law Library of King County, this course is offered online via Elluminate. Instructions for login will be sent to each registrant. Monday, June 13, 2011; 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. PDT. To register, go to www.sos.wa.gov/quicklinks/legal.
