1) FIRST TUESDAYS – EDGE INITIATIVE
The Edge Toolkit is a new management and leadership resource that is helping libraries and local governments work together to achieve community goals. With this professional tool, libraries can be better positioned to address community issues such as creating a strong economy, ensuring workforce development, and leading lifelong learning. At next week’s First Tuesdays presentation, The Edge Initiative for Public Libraries, Samantha Becker, Research Manager of the U.S. IMPACT Study, a research group at the University of Washington Information School, will describe how the Edge Toolkit can enable libraries to:
- Use local data to assess how their community is using technology;
- See how best practices can be put into place to align future growth and services with community priorities;
- Package and showcase their data to other community leaders.
Designed as a continuing education opportunity for staff of libraries in Washington State, this free web presentation, which will take place on January 7, 2014, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. PST, lets attendees share their skills and successes and learn about new topics. Sessions are recorded so that others may listen at their own convenience. For more information about First Tuesdays, visit sos.wa.gov/q/tuesdays. For instructions on joining the presentation, go to sos.wa.gov/q/FirstTuesdays.
