NEW PROQUEST NEWSPAPER CONTENT

proquest-national-newspapers-featuredThe WSL Statewide Database Licensing Project (SDL) and ProQuest are pleased to announce that the statewide account has been upgraded from the ProQuest National Newspaper Core to National Newspaper Expanded. This content increase is provided in response to the loss of The Everett Herald from the Washington Newsstand in January 2015.

In addition to the current five national newspapers (New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, Christian Science Monitor), the expanded package includes:

  • The Atlanta Journal and Constitution (1995 – present) – the paper of record for the southern US.
  • The Boston Globe (1980 – present) – the paper of record in the Northeast US which has been awarded 23 Pulitzer Prizes since 1963;
  • Chicago Tribune (1985 – present) – the most-read daily newspaper of the Chicago area and the Great Lakes region and the eighth largest newspaper in the United States. The paper has been awarded 20 Pulitzer prizes throughout its history;
  • The Denver Post (1988 – present) – A major newspaper in Denver, the Post ranks as the 12th largest circulation newspaper in the United States;
  • USA Today (1987 – present) – A national daily. The newspaper along with The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times ties for having the widest circulation of any newspaper in the United States.

These additional newspaper titles have been added to all Washington library accounts. Log in to ProQuest in the usual manner. To create a link that will search only the National Newspaper Expanded collection, use the ProQuest Administrative Module. This content will remain available for the remaining term of the current contract, through June 30, 2016. For questions, please contact SDL project manager, Will Stuivenga at [email protected] or 360.704.5217.
